SPAA Conference, Nov 2007, Gold Coast

Emerging Producers Scheme - DEADLINE EXTENDED until October 5th
Designed to assist newer members of the industry attend the SPAA Conference at a subsidised rate. The scheme offers select emerging producers the opportunity to attend the SPAA Conference at half price and will provide the tools needed to best 'work' the conference and the opportunity to meet one-on-one with senior industry figures.

Essential Criteria
- Applicants must be a SPAA Member
- Applicants who have previously attended a SPAA Conference, either as a full registrant, an Emerging Producer or as a speaker are not eligible to apply
- Applicants must have a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career as a producer (ie work experience, studies in screen production or production credit)

Deadline extended to the 5th October, 2007

OHS in Film and Television Starter Kit & Training Course. Canberra, October 5th

Peter Wasson of OHS Media Services Pty Ltd has been working with SPAA and WorkCover NSW putting together The OHS Starter Kit and Training course, designed to assist film & television production companies develop their OHS management system and safe work procedures for productions. Peter will be coming to Canberra on Friday October 5th to run a half day session of The OHS Starter Kit and Training course for ACT and Capital Region Screen Practitioners at The Canberra Business Council offices. The cost is normally $275 plus GST; but ScreenACT is offering it for $175 plus GST.

The Jammed - Special Canberra Screening - meet the filmmaker

Dendy Cinema. Monday 24 Sep 2007

The Jammed is a new, low budget, gritty Australian thriller about a young Melbourne woman drawn into a world she had no idea existed as she reluctantly agrees to help a Chinese mother search for her missing daughter. It concerns human trafficking, illegal prostitution and governmental deportation.

The film opened to excellent reviews, and has become something of a surprise success story.

A special screening of the The Jammed will be held for media, politicians, and the public at Dendy Monday night 6.30pm. The screening is being hosted by Vicki Dunne MLA, features an introduction by film-maker Dee McLachlan, and includes a social gathering before and after the film.

Tickets are $23 ($20 for students). The screening is at 7.30 with refreshments served from 6.30
