Recent location enquiries
ScreenACT Regional Production Liaison Officer, Robert Pickles, has been busy over the last month with enquiries for films, adverts and music videos around the Capital Region. He even had a ‘Deliverance moment’ deep in Bago Forest after his car got bogged. Luckily, a logging truck passed by, so he escaped with both his car and dignity in tact.
Below is a brief update of recent enquiries received:
§ ‘Dreamworks’ requested images of a remote location with pine trees fronting a large lake for a feature film and were very pleased with images sent of Bago, Tumut, Googong and Burrinjuck Dams, Eucumbene and Jindabyne, but it seems the film is likely to go to Canada.
§ A big budget supernatural horror feature has also considered filming in the region, but needed a huge (think The Shining) hotel-like building in a remote location, which we could not provide, although a number of locations were considered, such as ‘Sponars’ Chalet in Jindabyne.
§ A clothing label were interested in shooting a new TVC in the Snowy Mountains, but the shoot was unable to go ahead because of restrictions on entry of animals (required for the shoot) in National Parks.
§ Hilton Media Pty Ltd (t/a Ticket to Ride) needed a unique location to make a music video for the band ‘Evermore’ and after seeing some of the locations around Lake George have decided to shoot there.
