Producer Rebate - Electronic Games Industry reaction
THE Australian electronic games industry has reacted angrily to the federal Government's failure to extend the 40 per cent rebate on local production costs to games production.
The Games Developers' Association of Australia has launched a petition on its website to demand the financial support of the rebate be extended to the games industry.
The Australian last week published comments by Greg Bondar of the GDAA: "A government rebate will enable our industry to grow, compete on a global scale, employ more Australian talent and make a bigger contribution to our economy," Bondar says. "We know that our local industry has the capacity to become the same sort of global 'centre' of game development as Canada -- we just need the leg-up to get there,"
