New Screen Australia CEO Announced
Ruth Harley, the current CEO of the New Zealand Film Commission, has been appointed by federal Arts Minister Peter Garrett for a five-year term beginning in November.
Lyn Maddock will continue as acting CEO until that time.
Although the appointment appears to have generally taken industry by surprise, the reception has been positive. SPAA president Trish Lake said “We welcome Dr Harley and recognise the skills and expertise she has developed working with the New Zealand Film industry for over twenty years, I look forward to building a shared understanding of the Australian environment at a critical time in the development of a more sustainable Australian Industry.”
